Why I Created This Safari...
Most people go on safari hoping to come home with incredible photographs — and instead find themselves rushed from sighting to sighting, squeezed into busy vehicles, and trying to learn photography on the fly. It’s overwhelming, and it takes the joy out of the whole experience.
I started running small-group photo safaris because I wanted to offer the opposite. On one of my early trips to Botswana, I realised how different things felt when we slowed down. We stayed with a single leopard for nearly an hour, watching the light change and talking through settings as the moment unfolded. No pressure. No rushing. Just time to breathe and actually connect with what we were photographing.
That experience stuck with me.It made me want to create safaris where guests could learn properly, enjoy the process, and go home with images they’re truly proud of — whether they’re beginners or experienced photographers.
The April 2026 Botswana Photo Safari is built around that idea:small group, unhurried days, beautiful light, and a supportive environment where you can grow your skills and enjoy the magic of the bush without pressure. If you’ve ever wished for a safari that’s slower, calmer, more intentional — and designed for people who genuinely love wildlife and photography — this trip was created with you in mind.

Your Journey Through Botswana
Day 1 — Arrival in Maun
Your safari begins in the easy-going safari hub of Maun. You’ll settle into your lodge, meet your guides and fellow travellers, and enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner as we chat through what to expect over the next few days. Nothing starts early today — we ease into it. Tomorrow, the real adventure begins.
⸻
Days 2–4 — Khwai: The Okavango’s Wild Edge
Rise and shine—it’s time to leave Maun behind and dive into paradise! .On the way, you have the option to visit Elephant Havens, an elephant orphan sanctuary where tiny giants steal hearts! Khwai is one of those places that doesn’t take long to get under your skin. You’ll wake to the sound of hippos in the waterways and the soft rustle of the bush coming alive. Days here usually bring close elephant encounters, leopards resting in the shade of trees, and beautiful golden light falling across open floodplains. We don’t rush in Khwai. We follow tracks, watch behaviour, and stay with sightings long enough for something meaningful to happen — a lioness lifting her head, a fish eagle dropping from a branch, elephants crossing the river at dusk.If you’re keen, helicopter flights and mokoro rides offer a completely different angle on this incredible landscape.
⸻
Days 5–7 — Savute: The Land of Predators
Savute feels different the moment you arrive — wide, open country with a rawness you can actually feel. This is where the big moments tend to happen quickly.Dawn often brings lions on the move, hyenas patrolling the marsh, or a leopard slipping between camelthorn trees. As the day builds, huge elephant bulls cross the plains, sometimes with storm clouds gathering in the distance. We position ourselves carefully, working with the light and anticipating the action. Evenings are spent back at camp, going through images together under a sky full of stars — one of everyone’s favourite parts of the trip.
⸻
Days 8–10 — Chobe Riverfront: Water, Light & Elephants
Your final chapter unfolds along the Chobe River, a place known for its wildlife-rich riverbanks and huge elephant herds. Here we split our time between land-based photography and a specialised photo boat, giving you unique low-angle access to animals at the water’s edge. You’ll photograph elephants swimming, hippos surfacing, and birdlife in perfect soft light.Sunset on the river is something you don’t forget — warm colours, glassy water, and wildlife all around.
⸻
Day 11 — Departure from Kasane
After breakfast, we make our way to Kasane for your onward journey. You’ll leave with full memory cards, new skills, and a deeper connection to wild Africa. It’s often the moment guests realise: this trip changed the way they’ll photograph wildlife forever.
⸻
Optional Add-On: Victoria Falls Extension (1–2 Nights)
For guests who want to keep the adventure going, you can add a night or two at Victoria Falls, just a short transfer from Kasane. This extension is relaxed, flexible, and a great way to unwind after your safari.
What you can do in Victoria Falls:
• Visit one of the world’s most iconic waterfalls
• Enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River
• Try activities like helicopter flights, white-water rafting, or bungee jumping
• Browse local markets and explore the town
• Or simply relax at your lodge and soak in the atmosphere.
There’s no set schedule — you can make this part as adventurous or as easy-going as you like. It’s a perfect final chapter for guests who want a little more Africa before heading home.If you’d like help planning this extension, I’ll guide you through the options.
