LOCATION: Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Botswana

PHOTOGRAPHER: Devon Jenkin

Transiting between pans in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, I found this majestic male sitting in the shade of a bush near the road, also in transit. He would have either been on a territorial patrol, following the scent of a female in oestrus or moving to an area of his territory where the game was more abundant. Due to the arid conditions in the Kalahari, the game is sparse and lion territories are huge and males must cover large distances to defend themselves and keep other males out. This male was is in his prime and judging by his scars he had had a few battles to get to where he was. The intensity of a lion’s stare penetrates the soul and stirs a primaeval fear of predators.

As a 100% carbon-neutral printing company, my printing partner has ensured that their packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible. The packaging used in your orders is either recyclable or biodegradable.
