The first call of the Woodland Kingfisher is a welcome sound across Africa, signaling the long-awaited arrival of the rains. These striking birds migrate from Central Africa to nest and raise their young during the summer months, filling the air with their shrill calls.
This particular kingfisher was photographed just after the summer rains, when the landscape was lush and emerald green—a perfect moment capturing the essence of the African wilderness.
